wind / unwind
The scroll is a ceremonial object – presenting it requires a suspenseful unrolling and revealing of its contents. This wearable contraption celebrates the unrolling act of the scroll. A strip of newspaper found on the bench of Providence Train Station is edited into a long and thin strip, then repeatedly wound and unwound again to celebrate the newspaper’s futile life as a relic object. A brooch, pinned to the chest, transforms into a neck piece, then back into a brooch.
